The Nirmal Town is Revenue Divisional Headquarter in Nirmal District. Historically it is popular for its Handicrafts and Paintings in Telanangana State. The Nirmal Municipality established in the year 1952, with a population of 10,000. and finally upgraded to Grade-2 Municipality. The Nirmal Municipality is spread over to an extent of 14.25 Sq.kms. with a population of 88205 as per 2011 census, and the population at present is approximately 1,00,000.There are 33 no. of notified slums and 3 no. of non-notified slums existing in the town with a slum population of 34400 which comes 39% of the total population of the city .Migration of rural people to city has been increasing day-by-day due to non-availability of agricultural operations in rural areas, due to prevalence of the drought conditions etc. There are 36 Election wards and 8 revenue wards in the town .
